It seems some years are better than others and this year my “Where’s Wiwi?” blog title has become a self-fulfilling prophecy!
When I chose that title, I imagined posting from all around the world. I didn’t imagine I would actually pull off a disappearing act.
I had high hopes for 2013 as the year I would make some serious in-roads into my Bucket List. There was a trip to Japan kicking off the year and a safari to Kenya and Tanzania in the pipeline as well as a few cheeky little weekenders.
And then my world was tilted on its axis and unlucky 13 kicked into full gear.
Cancer came knocking on my family’s door in January and everything was put aside in an effort to keep that door firmly closed. Although it’s taken all of my attention and energy, it’s been worth it to see us coming out the other side.
I’m happy to report that we’re getting back on track, thanks to the wonders of modern medicine and a very brave patient, so perhaps 2013 wasn’t so unlucky after all.
I hope to get back into the swing of things here and that you’ll forgive my deafening silence!
The world really is too big for one lifetime!! Make sure you get out and see what you can, while you can.
I wondered where you were and if you were ok! Really sorry that you’ve been grappling some big nasty stressful stuff and hope that chapter is now firmly behind you all. Welcome back.

Thanks Hayley! The hard part is going to be getting back into the swing of things here and catching up on everyone else’s adventures.

Cancer is such a demon and its a fight that an entire family has to deal with when it comes calling but I’m glad that you’ve all won this battle

It sure is a demon! Thankfully chemo and surgery seemed to do the trick, now we just need to start getting back to normal. Well, as normal as we ever were 🙂

I cannot imagine what it would be like. But I do hope that it’s all behind you now and that you can start looking forward to things again rather than dread the future x

No I never really appreciated the full impact even when I had friends in similar situations, although I can’t say I’ve handled it particularly well, hence my complete disappearance! Thanks for your kind words x
